VLC has long had the oddest choice of icon. It’s a traffic cone, something that I suppose references to the fact that originally VLC was used to stream video around a network. The fact that it has usurped Quicktime as the most versatile media playing app has not been reflected in its icon choice. Houston's CBS affiliate published this story about Vince McMahon's "freak accident" (a planned stunt from last night's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw), quoting a WWE press release. I commented on their story pointing out it wasn't legit, but my comment was deleted from their site. Maybe I shouldn't have equated them with the Weekly World News...

Google Trends is now competing directly with services such as Alexa and Compete, by allowing users to look at trends by website address.

Google search trends will be used to demonstrate that, except for brief periods near Thanksgiving, searches for “orgy” consistently outrank attempts to find information about “apple pie” in Florida . The rest of the year, orgy searches are closer in frequency to what might be expected to be a common act
